No diagnosis of this species replacing P. aureozona in parts of Cameroon is presently available. Please refer to the references provided.
Habitat description
Mostly streams, but also headwaters, shaded by forest, but sometimes in clearings. Often with coarse detritus and a sandy and/or soft (like muddy) bottom, and probably submerged roots. Inferred to occur from 0 to 1000 m above sea level, but possibly up to 1800.
